Last week, I was supposed to go to the PT but long story short, there was a LOT of traffic on the highway, my mom (who also goes) and I got there too late for both of us to have our appointments so I told her she should go. Today I had my first appointment, and here's the lowdown on my sitch: Turns out, since February 15 (aka the day after Valentine's Day aka the day of that car accident I wrote about), I've had a severe sprain in my neck, shoulders, and back joints -_______- There are three main types of sprains, and the kind I have requires physical therapy three times a week or else every little action I do with my arms and shoulders will keep sending my back and neck into muscle spasms and cause arthritic-like symptoms -_________- Also, I have incredibly weak hips which is leading to my chronic tendonitis that will not heal unless I do some serious strength training program to fix it… it's really important that I do this because it's leading to the degeneration of my cartilage that will ultimately lead to arthritis in my knees -_________- Also, apparently I have collapsed arches in my feet which make them very quite flat and I pronate inward when I run, thus harming my knees even further, so I have to do stretches and keep wearing my orthopedic surgeon-prescribed inserts to re-create arches that were lost due to years of wearing flip-flops as a kid and preteen, as well as my weak hips -______________- My other physical therapists just told me to strengthen my thigh muscles, but this guy really really knows his stuff! He got his degree at UConn, so I'm guessing that they have a good program there, or else he's just brilliant (ohhay derre, Einstein!)
Sooo basically I have ALL OF THE ISSUES!!!!!!!! *flails arms wildly about* hahaha! I'm actually really blessed to finally have a physical therapist who knows what he's doing (although TBH, it makes me super uncomfortable when people are hands-on with my body like legs and stuff… yikes) -_________- and I'm so so excited and thankful that now there will be an end to my being in so much pain every day… I honestly didn't realize the severity of my issues and trying to ignore my pain every day makes me, I guess, not realize that I really need to fix my issues as soon as possible. I literally could have happydanced (well… as long as it wouldn't hurt/make my injuries worse hahaha!!) in that PT's gym-office thing. It's all uphill from here!!
Until Next Time
